Project Monitoring 2
This week I have started to design a layout for my article "Screenwriting for dummies" pages 3 and 4. I have added the appropriate colour scheme to them and also a drop cap designed. I also carried out my interview for my article review and interview and recored it for help on my first draft of the article this meant that I could do my first draft of my article which is nearly complete.
For my planned photo shoot it fell through at the last minuet as my model did not bring the props I needed from them for the photo shoot. For this i should have planned more ahead and maybe made sure the props where in the studio or the college a day before to make sure I had everything needed. This meant I had to reschedule my photo-shoot to the Wednesday the 13th of February. Due to this I spent the lesson doing a contents page that was scheduled for later on in the production time. This means I have put back on the layout design and colour scheme of the article "Review and Interview" for a week. Instead focusing on completing articles and other things scheduled later on. I will design my headers and kickers for my article "Review and Interview" in this final lesson of the week and continue the final drafts of my articles for homework ready for the next production week.

Project Monitoring
In this session this week I had a successful photo shoot for a few reasons. At first I could not find the designed effect I wanted for my lighting because the lights where not working from my set up planed. This could of been resolved quicker if i had tested lighting before hand. However with persistent experimenting I used the snoot light instead of my planned honeycomb lighting. With this I took an hour for my homework task to get this desired effect of a film noir look I was going for. (see image below)
Using photoshop it took longer than i had expected to edit and refine my image for my article screen writing for dummies. This is due to a few factors them being not remembering all the editing techniques that help enhance my photo straight away but also they took longer to execute correctly than once planned. However after more time on the photo i managed to edit it using effects such as levels changing it to black and white and using unsharp mask. (see image below)
As for not completing my schedule fully because some tasks took longer than expected i was unable to write out two intros for my article screenwriting for dummies. This means that i will have to add this in to a homework task over the weekend to have it all up to speed ready for second week of production on my magazine.
However due to colour scheme research I found that the colour scheme yellow and black was a much suited colour when i was designing my layout. This has meant i have changed my original colour scheme and in fact page numbers and layout completely. Instead of doing a 16 page magazine I will now be doing a 20 page one with two additional pages of advertising but also a double page spread with just my image and headline on and now another double page spread with the article on. (see Image below)

1 Schedule
Creation: For this week I will plan out and create a production schedule
to help me keep on time with working out the production dates and what tasks
I will do on what weeks. This will help me have a finished product to be able
to submit on the 28th of February. The schedule will have to be
very detailed and also realistic this means I will add 3 different homework
tasks a week adding up to 4 hours of work outside of class.
2 Schedule
Creation: To produce the most realistic schedule possible I will work out
when I have time for my production and when I can not realistically do
production on my product due to other commitments in other A level subjects. For
this to work I will ask my subject teachers and research when deadlines exam
dates are meaning I can work round these for my schedule.
Homework 1: For homework one I will do some
font research for my first article ‘Screenwriting for dummies’. For this I
will research possible fonts to use for the headline of my article. I will
try out examples of the size of font used also the style whether it will be
bold have drop shadow and other effects. For this I will look at default
fonts in the program Photoshop and also research on websites such as
dafont.com
Homework 2: For homework I will test out
colour schemes for my first article ‘screenwriting for dummies’. This will
include looking at existing designs of the same genre magazine and setting up
a simple plan of my layout and working out colour ratio. I will also work out
if I will use the 3-colour rule or less colour or more colours.
Homework 3: I will write out a brief plan
of how my article ‘screenwriting for dummies’ will be wrote and how it will
flow. Using my research tables I will pick out the most valuable and
beneficial information for the article.
I will do I calculated estimate on the number of words the article
will be meaning I can use this information for layout design in the future.

1. For this week I will look through the
images I have taken in my photo-shoot for homework and find the best ones to use

place them into the program Photoshop and edit them. Firstly changing the
contrast and levels to get a more desired effect of what I want.
2. I will write out a detailed plan of how
my article ‘screenwriting for dummies’ will be written and how it will flow.
Using my research tables I will pick out the most valuable and beneficial
information for the article. I will do
I calculated estimate on the number of words the article will be meaning I
can use this information for layout design in the future. ‘Screenwriting for
dummies’. I will write 2 intros for the article and then pick which one I
like better and the one that flows and reads the best. For this I will use my
plan made the week before. The article will take around 1 hour to write and
around 10-15 minuets to proof read and make any corrections.
3. I will use my images edited for the
article ‘screenwriting for dummies’ and put them into InDesign then I will
create my layout planned earlier in flat plans and other research I have
done. With this I will then add the colour scheme I have decided from my
homework plan of colour schemes. Then
edit and tweak the colours to get a correct and professional look on the
pages.
4 Project Monitoring: For this I will use
around 20 minuets of my lesson time to reflect on what I have done over the
past week and what went well if I stayed on target and time. I will also
reflect on what went wrong why I missed times if I did and also why work has
not been done if it has not been. & With the font research I did as
homework I will open Photoshop import or use the font selected in Photoshop.
I will then add the desired effects chosen in the plan for example drop
shadow and stroke. I will design headlines for the article ‘screenwriting for
dummies’ then they are ready to be placed on my layout page in InDesign.
Homework 1: For this homework I will have my
interview with my YouTube channel owner and ask him my questions posed on my
interview question plan. I will record this so I can look back after the
interview and write down quotations and also most helpful and beneficial
information that will go into my article ‘Review & Interview.
Homework 2: For this homework I will do a
detailed article plan for my article ‘Review & Interview. This will
entail working out the flow of the article and also writing out 2 intros for
my article. The length of paragraphs will be determined and also a calculated
estimate on the overall length of the article.
Homework 3: For the homework I will work out
colour schemes for my layout of the article ‘Review & Interview. The
colours will be determined from tests and working out the ratio of colour. I

My type of article will be a round up article named ‘Top 5
YouTube filmmakers’. This will be an article to provide information to my
readers that could benefit their studies and or interest in film.
|
|
Narrative voice
(1st, 2nd or 3rd person) |
I will use 3rd
person because it is information on YouTube channels.
|
|
Register
(informal/formal,
colloquial, dialect, taboo words?)
|
The
language I will use will be informal to connect easier towards my target
audience, reasons for this is because the young age of my target audience
will relate and be more comfortable with informal language and this also
allows a light feel towards the article making it convey a more friendly and
inviting feel. There will be slight use of mild
taboo and use of maybe a little bit of colloquial language.
|
|
Stylistics
(repetition,
strong verbs, adjectives, alliteration, similes, metaphors, sentencing,
rhythm)
|
The style
of the article will be very informative and will not try to be clever with
the use of different styles. The rhythm of the article will be a short rhythm
with short paragraphs.
|
|
Tone of address
(hectoring,
sarcastic, ‘matey’, ironic, etc)
|
The tone of
address for the article will come across matey and trying to connect with the
audience it will also be informative as it will be providing information to
the reader.
|
|
Structure and pace
(discourse
structure, logical paragraphing, connectives, conclusion)
|
The
structure of the article will work around the layout designed for the article
to fit in. This meaning for the opening paragraphs there will be a short
intro summing up the community of filmmaking on YouTube. Then it will have
many sub headers that summaries the YouTube channel and what benefit they can
provide. The end of the article will be a conclusion of how the YouTuber’s
information will benefit. It will follow a discourse structure of having a beginning
middle and an end in a form.
